What is a Criminal Record Certificate?

A criminal record certificate (Vërtetim nga Gjykata / Certifikatë e Evidencës Penale) is an official document issued by the competent court in Kosovo confirming whether a person has any criminal convictions recorded. This document is commonly required for:

Company registration and business formation (ARBK)

Employment applications in Kosovo

Residence permit applications

Visa and work permit applications abroad

Public procurement participation

Court Administration Fee

The court may charge a small administrative fee (typically €3-5) for issuing the certificate. This is a government fee, not a service charge from KIJV.

Important Information

1.This form and service are provided FREE by KIJV — no fees are charged.

2.The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

3.For non-residents, the request should be submitted to the court with jurisdiction over the last known address in Kosovo.

4.Foreign nationals who have never resided in Kosovo may need to provide this document from their home country instead.

5.Processing time is typically 1-3 business days, though it may vary by court.
